soundsFun and I went to the Seattle GRUE this weekend. We were the only obviously gay people there. This was largely a group that recognized us from around Seattle, but didn't know us.
We went to the meet-and-greet at the home of popeBacon. Google maps sent us through several neighborhoods that I normally don't see. And directed us to a home three doors down from my sister's home.
People that I respect were outside discussing the tremendous labor of love necessary to get a straight razor sharp enough for a deeply personal scene. The minimal fee for the unconference was paid by credit card.
We had a long discussion on the steps outside the home. We discussed the difference between mens' and womens' hips with regard to inverted rope suspensions. We all had, and discussed, our border and TSA security incidents.
The next morning we arrived bright and early at the conference armed with a half dozen sugar-free red bulls and a pair of frozen pizzas. We took our seats and the organizer, Gray, commented that it was the first time that the conference had started on time.
A very nice Canadian couple started out by taking off their pants. It made it clear that this was a relaxed friendly atmosphere.
The straights are different. They wear utilikilts.
The bondage was high quality. Both the tops and bottoms treated bondage seriously and the most popular class in the morning was "stretching for bondage".
The bondage between the straights seems less sexually focused. A friendly woman suggested that this might have come from straights having developed their bondage in alcohol serving establishments that couldn't allow actual sex in order to preserve their liquor licences.
A beautiful woman gave an anatomy lesson on the foot. A famous photographer and rope top from seattle, JimDuvall, gave some instruction on the tying of a single foot inverted rope suspension. Others there provided a safe environment to explore.
soundsFun describes this as more comfortable than originally presented.
