thoughts on Macramé and clips

I like rope bondage.  But I think that's because I like bondage.

One of the standard techniques taught to people new to rope is the the karada.  As taught in one of my first lessons, it is a largely ornamental, going around the torso without binding the arms.

Then there are ladder ties that go down a single limb. (ladder ties are any repeated knot)  The standard one that I see on recon is simple rope bend around a limb, off of a rope running parallel to the limb.

I derisively refer to these as macramé.

These have the same feeling to me as quick release handcuffs, spring clips, and velcro straps, which I call clippy bondage.

I can understand that these have value for and as symbolism.  But symbolism alone doesn't work for me.

One step earlier in the symbolism is the rope lanyard worn by some rope tops on their hip.  I prefer to flag the more practical bandage shears in my back left pocket.

I don't understand yet.
