There was a brief window of sanity in my holiday season.
SoundsFun, a very tall top, and I got together for some webbing work.
I was excited by the idea of yoga and had seen a photo of the yoga scorpion pose. Feet over the head seemed like a good idea.
My original plan had the feet nearly over the head and would make the hips inaccessible. But this was less practical in a boy less flexible than gumby. So I decided to hold most of the weight on shoulders and chest harness.
The tall top tied a spider harness around soundsFun, and I tied the webbing version of a single column tie underneath.
The lift was performed using a block and tackle made of webbing. I've gotten better at this sort of lift since then.
Then it came time for the feet. My first lift of the feet left them too close to the floor for my visual aesthetic. I decided to reconnect the legs closer to the ceiling. I disconnected them with one hand, lifted them higher and reattached. The tall top and I stood back to admire. At this point we heard the sound of rope pulling quickly against rope. And soundsFun's feet fell to the floor.
In moving the knot I had accidently mixed up the structural loop and the quick release loop. The quick release pulled through.
We finished up, took a lot of photos, with and without the underwear, and debriefed.
This was my second worst dungeon mistake. It resulted in a stubbed toe. But it was a mistake. I need to own my mistakes and be honest about them if I am really going to learn from the mistakes.
I am comforted by the fact that the boys from all of my major dungeon mistakes have been willing and in some cases eager to play with me again.
