At folsom I watched an inverted suspension on the kink.com stage. It was done with simple gunslinger suspensions.
When soundsFun got back from his boundGods live shoot we decided to try this at home.
I learned a lot from the experience.
The standard gunslinger is built on a bola-bola knot at the hips. When the weight shifted into the inversion this allowed the center ropes to move within the knot, creating a pinch around the waist. Building this on a knot with bends back and forth would have solved this problem.
I attached directly to the ropes with a climbing carabiner. During the inversion this caused a couple problems. The caribener moves more than a rope attach. During the inversion this movement allowed the thigh wraps to move. I reattached using a climbing loop pulled into three bights around the lower joint of the gunslinger harness. It worked a lot better.
But for the inverted suspension to work I would need to retie the gunslingers.
So I got out the snubbers. And this became the most dynamic suspension that we had ever done.
There was light play.
