I had a few people from the leather community over to my home on Saturday.
This was the first time that I'd had a group over since a 2007 incident when the police officers asked me to shut down the 150 person underwear party at 3am.
soundsFun and I had spent a couple of evenings since IML preparing.
I think it went well.
I think it has a lot to do with the guests. The heavier players made a point of making lost guests feel welcome, without kink-centric conversation. The guests drank a lot less alcohol than at my previous parties. Guests ate more food than at previous parties. There was a lot less cleanup necessary.
It wasn't a play party. People wore fetish clothing, but it stayed on. I gave tours of my dungeon. People watched the boundGods video.
The gathering quietly ended around midnight, and a small group stayed late, sitting on the floor of the dining room talking until 3am.
It was comfortable and friendly. I had fun. It made me feel all grown-up.
