The bondage world borrows heavily from each other. Many of my favorite ties came from VanDarkholme's book and studying the photos on the boundGods website.
The hip harness in the above photo is an adaptation of a rock climbing harness that I saw done in rope by TieGuy7001 at Delta2010. The armbinder in the above photo is based on a tie that I first saw on recon, but I understand was earlier taught by Midori.
There have been some minor scandals in the bondage world about some of this. The Douglas Kent books "Complete Shibari" are easily the best books on this style of ropework. There is some question in the straight rope circles about his sources for the material.
I prefer to see this as fair use and validation.
